Students have had a great time learning about math in art. We studied symmetry and how it's found not only in art and math but in real life too. After that small discussion we got into the tiny of things with bugs. 1st graders had fun learning how many legs and body parts some bugs can have. Oh yea and they had fun adding a little texture to their pieces too. Their little challenge was to only draw half of their bug. That was a serious problem for them. They couldn't figure it out until I showed them how to transfer their design to the other half. So cool! (You should have seen their expressions.) When I pulled out the paints for their next class they were so geeked they didn't know what to do. Well, they figured that one out too. Take a look. They look awesome!!
