Steve Harpester - Cartoonist
Sept. 12 we had a visit from Steve Harvester, a local artist and cartoonist. He drew with all of the children at our school teaching them to draw with numbers and letters. The kids did a great job and loved it and so did the teachers. He has his own books published as well for children.
We are in need of the following items:
• Bottle caps (plastic only and any size. Please clean them before sending them.)
• Tyvec scraps
• Cleaned and used meat trays
Please send these with your children or contact one of us to drop it off.
We have Artsonia up and running again for this school year. You want to keep checking there as well.
Come see the music and feel the rythm with 4th grade's JAZZ. Music and Art teachers at the elementary coordinated this project. Students studies various forms of jazz music both through sound and vision.
In Mrs. Cannon's room students used templates to trace around to design their piece. Mrs. Burghy's students used shapes and line to build their instruments. Both teachers focused on rythm, movement and explained how to show music through art.
Using flourescent paint and a blacklight students also discovered how we can change what we see by using different light.
Come explore their art in both display cases where science, art, music and sound come to life!
